Introduction

New Life Church ( Hamilton) has been running holiday programmes for a number of years.
• Explosion! Holiday Programmes cater for 5 - 12 yrs old
• Explosion! Marae Camp (September only, one week) caters for 9-12 yrs old

New Life Church (Hamilton) Holiday Programmes are Christian based programmes which have been OSCAR (Out of School Care & Recreation) approved since 2006.
Explosion! Holiday Programmes are run for 8 weeks of the year. All programmes except the Marae Camp are run at the Life & Light Community Centre at 360 Tramway Rd in north Hamilton.

About our Holiday Programmes

• The programme runs from 8.30am - 4.30pm each day.
• Each programme is done on a theme basis and each age group has their own programme which is suitable for their age group.
• For each programme we have set rules & regulations which are expressed each day.

Children are split into 2 age groups:
• 5 - 8yrs - emphasis is creative fun
• 9 - 12yrs - emphasis is life skills

Holiday Programme activities include:
• Bible time - each child takes home a booklet that has been made up of the stories used during the week
• Games/Sport - done in teams/individuals, inside & outside
• Crafts - each child gets to take their craft home
• Activities - varying depending on the theme

The Marae Camp (in September/October) is for one full week where children stay on the Marae and enjoy cultural experiences. The Marae Camp has limited numbers.

Holiday Programme Fees **

Explosion Holiday Programmes
$130 per child for week or $30 per day  
Every other child in same family - $25 per day or $125 week

Marae Camp
1 child - $160 for week (includes all their food, accommodation, trips etc)
Other children in same family - $145 for the week
$15 per child for transport to and from Marae (if required)

You may be able to get the OSCAR subsidy to help with your costs if you come under their criteria

Holiday Programme Staff

• All staff are police vetted
• All supervising staff are over 18 yrs old
• Younger staff leaders (14-17yrs) are given small responsibilities within the programme
• Each staff member has initial training before any programme
• There are paid & voluntary staff
• Supervision is on a ratio of 1:8
